January 5, 2001
New York Times Digital, the Internet division of newspaper publisher The New York Times Co., said yesterday that its free e-mail newsletter Today's Headlines has more than 1 million unique subscribers. The company also has launched four new newsletters.
The Today's Headlines newsletter features the day's top headlines from each of the main sections of NYTimes.com. Registered users of the company's Web site can opt in for the newsletter at the site.
NYTimes.com now publishes eight e-mail newsletters, said Stephen Newman, the company's director of multiplatform development. He said the company plans to continue developing products that support its "primary vertical areas" of news and commentary from The New York Times reporters and columnists.
NYTimes.com launched the newsletters Your Money, Travel Dispatch and Circuits on Wednesday, and New York Happenings yesterday. The company said the newsletters launched Wednesday have more than 5,000 subscribers each, and New York Happenings, which covers local events, has 6,000.
