Openwave And Cti(2) Team to Deliver Unified Communications Services to Telecommunications Service ProvidersIntegrated Solution Results in Powerful Communications Tool That Links Voice, Email, And Fax Into Unified Message Store

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. and BURLINGTON, Mass., Jan 31, 2001 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Openwave Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: OPWV), the worldwide leader of open IP-based communications infrastructure software and applications, and CTI(2), a leading provider of unified communications platforms for telecommunications service providers and an Openwave ecosystem partner, today announced that CTI(2)'s W.W.Office(TM) platform is currently available as an integrated solution using the Openwave(TM) Email Kx edition to deliver IP-based unified communications services to the communications service providers (CSPs) market.

"The integrated solution will enable Openwave's CSP customers to offer their subscribers a powerful personal communications tool which offers the freedom and convenience to receive and respond to a variety of message types, including voice, fax, and email, on any device, any time, anywhere," said Erez Marom, CEO of CTI(2). "Our W.W.Office platform is unique in its ability to seamlessly integrate with any service provider network and provides a rich suite of unified communications applications that will enable Openwave's customers to attract and retain customers while tapping a new source of revenue."

CTI(2)'s IP standards-based W.W.Office unified communications application, the W.W.Messager, gives subscribers a single mailbox for managing email, voice, and fax messages according to subscriber instructions. The unified mailbox is accessible and manageable by telephone, mobile phone, WAP-enabled phone, pager, PDA, email client application, Web browser, or Java-enabled device. W.W.Messager automatically converts messages from one medium to another as needed, so users are no longer bound by the device or medium they are using. For example, with a regular telephone or mobile phone, a subscriber can retrieve and listen to voice and email messages; forward emails and attachments to a fax machine for printing; record a voice message and send it to an email account.

The Openwave Email Kx edition, integrated with the above features of W.W.Messager, will provide a high quality platform that enables growing CSPs to deliver messaging services uniquely tailored to each end user's needs in both the consumer and business markets. This solution also reduces redundancies of multiple message stores.

"Unified messaging is the foundation upon which all future communications will be built," says Donald Oas, vice president of product management at Openwave. "Unified messaging capabilities that are customizable, easy to provision and reliable will be a competitive advantage for growing CSPs. We are confident that we have the most robust platform in the industry for these services, and are delighted to have CTI(2) as an Openwave ecosystem partner."
