Congressman gets E-mail porn virus
May 16, 2001
WASHINGTON U.S. Rep. Ernest Istook, who has been trying for years to prevent people from looking at Internet pornography in public libraries, got an electronic mail virus this week that, when opened, sent recipients to porn sites on the Web.
Istook, R-Warr Acres, said Tuesday he received an e-mail from his niece that contained the virus, which then sent e-mails out to all the people in his online address book.
The e-mails directed the recipients to one of four randomly selected pornographic Web sites.
After Istook discovered Monday that his computer had been infected, he immediately sent out a warning to the people in his address book.
