Dow Jones Publishing Free E-Mail Newsletter for Wall Street

September 21, 2001

Dow Jones Newsletters, a division of publisher Dow Jones & Co., has published the first issue of a weekly e-mail newsletter that it will distribute free to anyone who registers on the newsletter's Web site called "Rebuilding Wall Street." The first issue, published in Adobe Systems' portable document format, or PDF, was 14 pages and included articles from Dow Jones Newswire and Wall Street Journal writers.

In a note on the Web site, at www.djnewswires.com/rebuilding/, Dow Jones said the newsletter was being published as a service to its subscribers and associates on Wall Street.

"Rebuilding Wall Street will include news and information on a range of relevant topics, including trading operations, real estate, security, and communications, as well as stories about those companies affected by and coping with the disaster," the note said.

Richard Levine, Rebuilding Wall Street's publisher and a vice president and managing editor of Dow Jones Newswires, said the newsletter "is dedicated to covering all facets of the massive effort to restore and rebuild Manhattan's financial district" and will publish extra editions when warranted.

"The newsletter will draw on [Dow Jones' journalists'] reporting to provide coverage of the human, commercial and political aspects of this story," Levine wrote in a note to readers in the first issue.

The newsletter, which will be mailed each Wednesday, will be free until the end of the year. Dow Jones then plans to re-evaluate whether to continue the newsletter and whether it will remain free.
