Murder girl e-mail talked of 'new man'

January 18, 2002

A SOUTH Korean student whose decomposed body was found in a suitcase is believed to have sent an e-mail home shortly before her death saying that she had met a new man.

Detectives investigating the murder of Hyo Jung Jin, 21, in North Yorkshire last October are liasing with officers in London after another South Korean student, In Hea Song, 22, went missing last month from Poplar, East London.

In what is believed to have been her last e-mail, sent to her parents in South Korea on October 26, Miss Hyo said that she had met a man who was kind and had shown her the sights of London. It was her last contact with her family.

The e-mail was sent from a computer in the house where both women had stayed in West London, Miss Hyo while on a short sightseeing trip from Lyon in France, where she was learning French.

Police said that the e-mail was “being pursued as a line of inquiry”.
