Free e-mail cards click with cupids

February 12, 2002

You can always send an e-valentine if you forget to drop your paper love letter in the mail. Trouble is, many formerly free electronic greeting-card sites are charging for their services, including the leading site BlueMountainArts.com.

But there are still options for sending free e-mail cards that personalize your message.

OhMyGoodness.com (www.ohmygoodness.com) offers original, quirky art. E-Cards.com (www.e-cards.com) provides a diversity of landscape and wildlife images. Beatgreets.com (www.beatgreets.com), which is owned by American Greetings, offers musical messages. TalkinToons.com (www.talkingtoons.com) has Flash animations.

The most interesting contender comes from the New Yorker. Its Cartoonbank.com offers free e-cards based on its famous cartoons, including a few "vanity" versions that let you drop your name or a friend's into the cartoon caption.
